I Wont' Cry Alone

At the present, I have six songs that I wish to share with you about my recent experiences. I'll share them, not in the order they were written, but how they best represent my state of mind. The first one is titled, I Won't Cry Alone.

I have been very fortunate to have a number of people come into my life recently that have been through similar experiences. Their thoughtful guidance and honesty have truly helped me in many ways. Two ladies in particular, who happen to be close friends of each other, have inspired me to take actions that I may never have attempted had it not been for their support. Over lunch one day, one of them told me what the other had said about getting through their experiences. She said, don't worry, I won't cry alone.

When I heard that I knew immediately that it was a great country song hook. Barely a week later, the song was born and the link below is the original first cut that I made to share with these special people. It is a little rough around the edges and I'm in the process of recording a slightly refined version. I hope the lyrics and melody do her statement justice.

I Won't Cry Alone Copyright 2006 Dennis Puckett

I won't cry alone
not by myself
wish your were here
but you put me on the shelf.

I'll try to find some one to help me ease the pain
if only for a day.
But I'll pick up the pieces and be on my way.

I won't cry alone
with nobody here
I won't waste my time
I won't drown in my beer.

No reason or rhyme for the troubles in my life
searching deep in my mind.
For the answers I know, I may never find.

Sometimes I really miss you
cuts me too the bone.
I'll even try to call you
but nobody's home.

So I'll try to find some comfort
with a friend.

I won't cry alone
not by myself
wish your were here
but you put me on the shelf.

I'll try to find some one to help me ease the pain
if only for a day.
But I'll pick up the pieces and be on my way.

I won't cry alone.

Welcome

Guess you’re wondering what Mac Puckett is all about. It’s about two things, music and mid-life crisis. Fortunately, I have always had music as an outlet in my life and have written a number of songs over the years, mostly country, but have never published them. Lately, I’ve had good cause to write a few more songs, particularly your typical country stuff where the dog leaves and the wife bites you.

Life has a way of smacking you upside the head and that happened to me recently in the form of a divorce. After loving and providing for someone for many years, it kinda sucks when the person you’ve built an entire life around tells you that we’re just friends. Needless to say, I was, and still am devastated.

So, what is the reason for this blog? Well, I’m not going to whine to the world but I do intend to share my feelings and songs. Also, I am planning a trip this summer to Nashville to play my songs at a couple of open stages and too whoever else may listen. I will be keeping you up to date on my progress as this trip unfolds.

Send your best wishes and prayers. Heck, if you want, you can send money too . Divorce is expensive.
